PhotoVoice

Photovoice is an established method developed initially by health promotion researchers (Wang and Burris, 1997). By utilising photographs taken and selected by youth participants, youth can reflect and explore the reasons, emotions and experiences that have guided their photographs.

Photovoice has three main goals: (1) to enable people to record and reflect on their community’s strengths and concerns, (2) to promote relevant youth dialogue and knowledge about important issues through focus group discussions of photographs, and (3) to reach policymakers.
